December/January 2024/2025

Well, didn’t 2024 go by in a flash? Huge congrats to all of you tying the knot this season. I can’t wait to see the photos of your cosy, romantic big days. And for those of you currently considering a winter wedding date, don’t miss our winter wonderland venues feature from page 19, rounding up the cosiest local hotspots, a dream for the season.

This issue our thoughts have turned to cake. Unsurprisingly really considering we here at CWM HQ rarely stop thinking about our stomachs! After all, isn’t it the way to most peoples hearts?! The big-day bake not only brings a smile to guests’ faces with a sweet treat in the evening but also acts as a centrepiece to tie your theme or palette together. So, we asked the region’s bakers to send us their seasonally-inspired showstoppers.

Since, we’re now looking ahead to 2025 we asked the experts in both Hot Topic (page 61) and Beauty Q&A (page 78) for their top trend predictions to get you ahead of the curve.

As well as wishing you all a very happy New Year, I’ll sign off by saying: Enjoy, and keeeep planning!

Pittville Pump Room

The Cheltenham Trust is the guardian of the historical Cheltenham Town Hall and Pittville Pump Room. As the lead provider of culture, heritage, arts and leisure in Cheltenham the Trust ensures that these iconic venues are tended to in every aspect and, most importantly, hosts the most lavish weddings, dances and banquets in Gloucestershire! Steeped in history and tradition, these venues offer a timeless Regency grandeur complete with breathtaking architectural detail.

Pittville Pump Room is the jewel in Cheltenham’s heritage crown – a Grade I listed Regency gem. Opened in 1830, it was Cheltenham’s largest and last spa to be built.

Outside, a covered colonnade, lined with ionic pillars, overlooks the sweeping lawns and the lake of Pittville Park, offering ample beautiful settings for those all-important photographs.

The landmark venue boasts a magnificent hall, built as a ballroom, featuring the famed central dome decorated with ornate plasterwork from which hangs a beautiful crystal chandelier. It’s the perfect place to step back in time. Picture the elegant dancers here, hear music from the bandstand, and feel the eras of rich history that surround you. Lined on three sides by a colonnade of ionic pillars, it’s filled with an abundance of natural light. Here, you and your 200 guests have the opportunity to make your own mark on the venue’s rich history as you say “I do.”

The Apse is a semi-circular room connected to the Main Hall, an ideal ceremony space for a more intimate feel. The surrounding ionic columns accentuate the venue’s regal sense of grandeur. The Apse also contains the original spa water pump, where the waters of Cheltenham were once taken. It can host 50 nearest and dearest.

The Oval Room, which can also accommodate up to 50, is a beautifully ornate room named for its shape. With large windows letting an abundance of natural light flood in, it’s ideal for a small elegant ceremony or as a private bridal suite. All three spaces are available for ceremonies and celebrations.

The Trust offers a variety of upgrades to its packages including food tasting, lighting, decor and more. It also offers kitchen buyouts if you prefer your own caterer.

Essential oils have the ability to switch up our emotional and mental state, but if you're new to aromatherapy, getting started can feel like a bit of a minefield. The easiest and most effective way to experience their power is all about pairing them with your pulse points according to Tisserand Aromatherapy and their small but mighty rollerballs help to do just that. "Your pulse points are the parts of the body where your blood is closest to the skin," explains Jo Kellet, Tisserand Aromatherapy Essential Oil Expert. "Applying here allows for fast absorption and quicker results. To maximise the benefit of both your olfactory senses and your pulse points, it's best to place them where your nose can still get a whiff!"
