Quarry Wood

Quarry Wood is a stunning venue, offering a choice of woodland or lakeside ceremony locations and a large lawn overlooking the lake. It's a fabulous setting for any style event, whether is a bare-foot festival vibe your after or a traditional suited and booted wedding, Quarry Wood and Quarry Wood Lawn can accommodate either and everything in between.

Situated on the private part of the Estate, the wood with graceful mature trees is perfect for those wanting a woodland ceremony. Canvas canopies can be suspended to create a covered dining or dance area. The path leads through the wood opening into a secluded clearing where you’ll find an oval lawn, from which you look down onto the Lower Meadow and graceful swans swimming on the lake. The lawn is approximately 40m x 32m in size and can accommodate a large marquee for drinks, dinner for up to 200 seated guests and dancing.

Deer Park Barn, which is situated close by, is also available to use as a base for those hiring Quarry Wood.

Bake Barn

We have two barn venues on the Estate, of which Bake Barn is the largest. It's an ancient stone threshing barn, sympathetically converted in 2010 into one of Wiltshire’s premier wedding and event venues. The main barn is a cathedral-like structure with exposed roof beams and large arching glazed windows front and back framing the view.

Inside there is a grand stone mantlepiece on the end wall, which surrounds an open hearth with fender seating and an impressive wall-hung clockface at the opposite end. The stone walls and wooden floor provide a neutral backdrop and the beams and mantlepiece can be decorated as you wish. The voluminous space can be used for wedding ceremonies, dinner and dancing, with direct access into a full fitted professional catering kitchen.

There is an attractive, separate lobby-entrance, with a cloakroom area and disabled, ladies and gents loos, with stairs leading to the first floor.

The Beaters Loft is a spacious first floor room, with views out onto the surrounding countryside. With it’s metal beams and double-height ceiling, it has a stylish, industrial, loft-style feel. There is a kitchenette in one corner with a separate loo and a lobby area with an external door leading to the rear of the barn.

In front of the barn is an attractive gravel courtyard enclosed by a dry-stone wall. Within the courtyard is a lawn on which a sizeable marquee can be placed. On the opposite side of the courtyard is the ‘Loggia’, an open-fronted stone building with far-reaching views out onto the surrounding countryside. The Loggia is split into two halves, the first with a charming metal-studded oak door leading out to the parking area and lending itself as a good location in which to set up a bar. The second half houses banks of overhead heaters and a huge fire bowl, providing an ideal location for a chill-out area.

The barn can accommodate up to 150 seated guests in the main room or 250 standing.

Deer Park Barn

Deer Park Barn is a charming little red brick and stone barn, nestled within parkland on the Fonthill Estate. Access is over the white bridge, through gates and along a track running adjacent to the beautiful Fonthill lake. The venue offers privacy and intimacy for small gatherings such as summer drinks parties and dinner parties and can seat up to 32 people inside. Alternatively, a large marquee can be erected next to the barn to accommodate several hundred guests for weddings and other large events.

The barn has attractive stone walls with alcoves and exposed roof timbers. At one end of the barn there is an entrance leading into a small open plan kitchen (which can be discreetly sectioned off using blinds), next door to which is a loo and shower room. At the far end is a second entrance, functioning wood burner and pull down hatch with metal steps leading to a sleeping platform above. Along the front of the barn there are double doors opening onto a pretty courtyard enclosed by a dry-stone wall. Outside of which is a large, grassed area approximately 30m square, where a marquee can be sited for wedding ceremonies, drinks, dinner and / or dancing and still leave enough space for seating an al fresco ceremony, games or whatever takes your fancy!

Deer Park Barn is often used as a base or incorporated within the celebrations of those using Quarry Wood.

Quarry Wood

Quarry Wood with its quirky grottos, choice ceremony locations, large lawn and dance pit, is a fabulous setting for any event.

The wood can be used for a ceremony location and canvas canopies can be suspended from the mature trees to create a covered dining or dance area. Alternatively, a marquee, stretch tent or tipi can be erected on the secluded lawn, from which you look down onto the Lower Meadow and lakeside ceremony area. The lawn is approximately 40m x 32m in size and can accommodate a large marquee for drinks, dinner for up to 200 seated guests and dancing. Situated at the rear of the lawn is a secret natural depression with grotto, a remnant of the quarrying which was once done here. Known as the dance pit, with a raised DJ platform, ivy-clad cliff backdrop it looks amazing at dusk when lit and is an ideal location for a silent disco.

The Fonthill Estate

Here on the Fonthill Estate we have several stunning and unique party and wedding venues available to hire. The three main venues are;

Bake Barn - a beautiful large stone barn, with a private courtyard at the front with lawn and open-fronted loggia with fire-bowl and heaters. There is a professional fully fitted kitchen, smart toilet facilities and a large 1st floor space for an inside ceremony. There is a large area for glamping and parking.

Deer Park Barn - is a mini barn with open plan kitchen, shower room, sleeping platform, courtyard and large lawn on which to erect a marquee. There is plenty of space for parking and camping.

Quarry Wood - is a marquee venue overlooking the lake, with woodland ceremony location.

All of the three venues are let on a ‘dry hire’ basis, allowing you to choose your own suppliers and control your budget.

The Fonthill Estate is situated just outside Tisbury in Wiltshire and the venues are located on different parts of our beautiful Estate.
