Exclusive Collection is delighted to announce exclusive getaway packages, themed afternoon teas and a writer’s retreat with Rosie Nixon, perfect for guests celebrating the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen.
Guests can step into Jane Austen’s world with an unmissable duo-destination package, thoughtfully crafted at two of the collection’s country house hotels: The Manor House near Bath, and Lainston House near Winchester. For those wishing to follow in the footsteps of Jane Austen, this two-night stay offers a unique opportunity to visit the places that shaped her life and work. The journey begins at The Manor House in Castle Combe, an idyllic 17th-century manor set in one of most picturesque villages in the Cotswolds. After a restful night and a delicious breakfast, guests can head to Bath, where Austen spent six influential years. A visit to the Jane Austen Centre is included in the package and offers a glimpse into her time in the city, surrounded by its stunning Georgian architecture.
The next chapter of the journey leads to Lainston House, a beautiful country manor just moments from the vibrant city of Winchester. Here, guests can enjoy a restful night before visiting the historic Winchester Cathedral, where Austen is buried. Perfectly situated to explore Austen’s world, Lainston House is also just 20 minutes from Chawton, where she penned some of her most famous works, and 25 minutes from Steventon, where she was born.
This special stay, celebrating 250 years since Jane Austen’s birth, promises a wonderful blend of history, literary heritage, and the timeless charm of the English countryside. The experience will be enhanced for Austen fans with dedicated rose reading spots within the grounds, adorned with potted Harkness ‘Jane Austen’ roses, so you can bring your favourite title or borrow one from our Austen library collection, and enjoy reading Austen in a picturesque setting, with a gifted Jane Austen bookmark to take home. There will also be a seasonal themed Jane Austen afternoon tea throughout the escape package period, as well as a special outdoor screening of a Jane Austen adaptation in the summer at Lainston House.
For guests seeking a shorter getaway, the duo-destination package is also offered as a one-night Jane Austen package, with Lainston House offering an overnight stay and tickets to Winchester Cathedral, and The Manor House offering an overnight stay and tickets to The Jane Austen Centre.
